Laurel Anderson, LMFT
Laurel Anderson has a master’s of arts degree in psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She has worked in the counseling field for more than 20 years, working for community-based organizations and in educational settings. She has extensive experience working with seniors with mental health issues and cognitive impairment, as well as their caregivers and family members. She enjoys using therapeutic recreation such as arts and crafts, movement, music and expressive painting to help clients reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
Laurel says she was drawn to work at Hope because “to me spirituality is a vital part of being human. In counseling I am interested in addressing and incorporating it into care. When this component is not incorporated, the whole person is not being addressed. My first goal, no matter what the reason that brings a client to counseling, is to make a connection that will help them feel safe, heard and accepted.”
